The Bat box!

I was discussing steampunk with spooky-librarian Jeanne, a friend that makes stained glass art.. the conversation wandered into the lack of “evil” stained glass works, and the possibility of doing an art nouveau Bat.
a few days later, we saw a call for artists in a halloween show, and the goal was seized..![]()
i drew up a bat-
and handed the drawing off to Jeanne.. she simplified it a bit for time, crafted it with painstaking shattering of glass, solder and cane..
then off to jason and myself…we decided on superdark walnut wood (coincidentally, the paxton woodstore was having a sale..whee) so, cut all to shape, add mitres, sand down some overenthusiastic solder, and glue it up with ye olde band clamps-

add some linseed(or if you prefer, fax-seed) oil, and some natural shellac, and it comes to shining life.. a simple project, but the librarian’s contribution makes it a very spiffy one .
